Oasis launches its Christmas appeal with the aim of raising the amount it costs us to run all of our services for the month of December - £20,500.
We deliver a broad range of services to women of all ages and backgrounds with drug and alcohol problems with bases in Brighton & Hove, Eastbourne and Hastings. The environment is safe, confidential and non-judgemental. We offer a nurturing crèche for new-borns to 5 year olds; removing a common barrier to women accessing treatment. Oasis also provides, via Young Oasis, dedicated, therapeutic services to children and young people, aged 5-18, who have been affected by a family member’s drug or alcohol misuse.
Christmas-time can be particularly difficult for families affected by substance misuse. For those with a drug or alcohol problem, maintaining a regular routine and being able to rely upon support during the holiday period is crucial, especially given the extra stresses that come with the season with its inevitable focus on drinking, socialising and general excess. For many, those whimsical, eye-moistening Christmas adverts are very far from reality. But to see the Young Oasis Christmas Party in full swing and to understand the bravery, determination and resilience of our service users, young and adult, makes us genuinely moist-of-eye.
We therefore ask our valued friends, supporters and generous-spirited newcomers to please give what you can. Thank you and may we wish you a very joyful Christmas and New Year. #OasisXmas2018
